The Block 2026 Hallway Reveals: Shining a Light on Overlooked Spaces
Hallways, entries and stairwells are some of the busiest areas of a home, yet natural lighting is often overlooked in their design. While kitchens and living areas receive plenty of attention, the spaces connecting them can be left feeling dark and enclosed. In Week 11 of The Block 2026, all five teams used VELUX fixed skylights to bring daylight into these often-overlooked spaces. From illuminating architectural features to bringing daylight into areas where conventional windows are limited, the reveals show what thoughtful skylight placement can achieve.

The Block 2026 Kitchen Reveals: Plan the Skylights Before the Kitchen Is Finished
Kitchen Week puts skylights into one of the busiest and most carefully planned rooms in the home. All five kitchens on The Block this week featured opening VELUX skylights, while several teams also brought natural light into their butler’s pantries with fixed skylights. The finished rooms are impressive, but there is a practical lesson behind them: in a kitchen, the best time to think about skylights is while the room is still being planned. The island, cabinetry, lighting, ventilation, ceiling layout and adjoining spaces all influence where daylight will be most useful and how the installation should come together.

The Block 2026 Ensuite Reveals: Getting Light, Ventilation and Privacy Working Together
Ensuites ask a lot from a relatively small room. You need good natural light, privacy and a way to manage the moisture created by showers, often without much external wall space to work with. This week on The Block, all five teams used VELUX skylights in their ensuites. Four combined fixed and opening skylights, while House 4 used three fixed skylights. The different approaches show why choosing a skylight for a bathroom is about more than simply adding daylight. Placement, ventilation, roof structure and the way the ceiling is finished all contribute to the result.

The Block 2026 Walk-In Robe Reveals: Bringing Natural Light Into Every Part of the Home
Natural light does not have to be reserved for kitchens and living spaces. In this week's walk-in robe reveals, all five teams used VELUX fixed skylights to bring daylight into spaces that might otherwise rely heavily on artificial light. The results also show that there is no single formula for skylight placement. Roof structure, room proportions and the desired visual effect all influenced how the skylights were used.

The Block 2026 Family Bathroom Reveals: Natural Light, Ventilation and Privacy
This week’s family bathroom reveals showed two different ways to use natural light from above. Courtney & Sev in House 4 made a large fixed VELUX skylight part of the room’s design, while Rick and Tayla in House 5 combined daylight with the ability to bring fresh air into the bathroom. Both approaches show why bathrooms can be particularly well suited to skylights, where natural light and privacy often need to work together.
