VELUX Roof Windows Melbourne

Bring daylight and fresh air into an attic, upstairs bedroom or room with a sloping ceiling.

VELUX roof windows are designed to be installed within reach, so you can open them by hand. Premier Skylights helps you choose the right window and position, then installs it with precision across Greater Melbourne and surrounding regions.

Is a roof window right for your room?

Roof windows suit spaces where the ceiling follows the roofline and the window can be reached comfortably. They’re worth considering for a loft conversion, upstairs study or bedroom beneath a pitched roof.

Position matters. You need to be able to reach the controls and allow room for the window to open, with furniture and the way you use the space taken into account.

If the window will sit high above you, or daylight needs to travel through a shaft to the ceiling below, explore our VELUX Skylights instead.

Not sure which you need? We can work that out from your plans or a look at the room

Choose how your roof window opens

Both models provide daylight and ventilation. The main difference is how the window opens into or away from the room

GGL Centre Pivot Roof Window

The GGL pivots around its centre, with part of the window swinging into the room as it opens. A control bar at the top operates the window.

It’s a practical choice where you can comfortably reach the top bar and have space for the opening movement. The window also rotates so the outside glass can be cleaned from inside.

GPL Dual Action Roof Window

The GPL opens outwards from the top for a more open outlook, keeping the opening window clear of the space directly in front of you.

It also has a centre-pivot function, allowing the outside glass to be cleaned from inside. It’s worth considering where you want to stand close to the window and make the most of the view.

Blinds and insect screens

For bedrooms, consider how you’ll control early morning light. Compatible manual honeycomb blinds provide room darkening for both GGL and GPL roof windows.

Optional insect screens are also available for within-reach installations. We can check the fit and access needed for the window, blind and screen to work together.

Installation with Premier Skylights

We’re second-generation skylight installers. You’ll talk with people who do the work and can explain what your roof and room will need.

For a renovation or new build, involve us before the roof and internal lining details are finalised. We’ll consider the window position, opening clearance, roof connection and finish around the window, then set out what’s included in the quote.

When working in an existing home, we protect the surrounding surfaces and clean up after the installation.

For builders and trades: Send the plans, specified models, quantities and required timing. Tell us which parts of the installation you need us to handle so we can agree the scope.

Tell us about your roof window project

Send us your suburb and a few photos of the room and roof, or attach your building plans. If you’re replacing an existing roof window, include a photo of its identification plate if accessible.

You don’t need to choose between GGL and GPL before getting in touch. We’ll help you work out which suits the space.
